Cassidy Dixon

Sport: Soccer

The performance: Dixon, a Pahoa native, has come a long way since he was trying to hold inexperienced Hawaii Academy of Art and Science teams together as a sophomore in high school.

On Monday, the UH-Hilo junior was named the Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week after not allowing a goal in two victories, the first of which broke a lengthy losing streak.

In his third start of the season Thursday, Dixon worked overtime to make a career-high 10 saves as the Vulcans snapped an eight-match slide with a 1-0 victory against BYU-Hawaii in double overtime.

On the season, he’s allowed one goal in more than more than 255 minutes of playing time with a save percentage of .929.
